Lower Mount Bethel

Lower Mount Bethel was Established in 1748 however was divided into Upper and Lower Mount Bethel in 1787. The population at the 2000 census was 3228 people.

The main road is Route 611. The neighboring municipalities are Upper Mount Bethel Township, Washington Township, Plainfield Township, Forks Township, Harmony, White and Belvidere Township in New Jersey. Its villages include Gruvertown, Martins Creek, Mount Pleasant and Riverton. The closest hospital is Lehigh Valley Hospital and Palmerton Hospital.

Some of the parks in the township are The Bryan Keifer Memorial Park, PP&L Recreation Fields, Riverton Ball Fields, and Visitor Center. During the spring and fall there is softball, baseball, t ball, basketball and soccer sign up.
The school district is Bangor Area School District and Easton Area School District.
